THE REIVERS ROUTE: a return C2C route
The Reivers Route is a waymarked route between Tynemouth on the North Sea coast and Whitehaven on the west coast, via Bellingham, Kielder Forest, Carlisle, Caldbeck in the northern Lakeland fells and Workington. The route mainly runs along quiet country lanes and traffic-free cycle paths, but also follows many green lanes and forest trails. The official Reivers Route map is has now been reprinted. For those who prefer full maps of the area which also show the route, try the OS Travel Tour maps for Cumbria and Northumberland, shown below.
